Insurance backing
Your rental insurance is backed by Seguros SURA
DrivePass takes out the policy with Seguros Generales Suramericana S.A. and is named on it as the policyholder. This is not a private policy stretched to fit a rental: the policy schedule declares rental to third parties as the declared use of the risk, which is what keeps the cover in force while you drive.
- You are named as an insured party under the policy's third-party liability cover.
- When you sign you receive a copy of the policy schedule and particular conditions: covers, exclusions, deductibles and territorial limits.
- The covers and deductibles that apply to your rental are written into the addendum you sign, not buried in fine print.
- The operation depends on the policy being in force: if cover lapses, DrivePass suspends that vehicle's rental.
What the policy does not cover
No car insurance policy covers everything, and neither does ours. You are responsible for the deductible and the franchise, the gap between what the insurer pays and the real value of the damage, traffic tickets and fines, and losses from events the insurer excludes or rejects when the rejection stems from a breach of the contract or of the policy conditions. It is written that way in clause ten of the rental agreement you sign.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance do I need to book?
You can book at any time, even the same day if available.
What if I need to extend the rental?
Contact the owner or our support team. Extensions are subject to availability.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. More than 48 hours in advance gets a full refund. Between 24-48 hours, 50% partial refund. Less than 24 hours, no refund.
Are damages during rental covered?
The vehicle is covered by a Seguros SURA policy and you are named under its third-party liability cover. It is not total coverage: the deductible, the franchise and the gap against the real value of the damage are on you, as in any rental. Check the vehicle condition when you receive it, document any prior damage and ask for the policy schedule before signing.
Can I take the vehicle outside Medellín?
It depends on the owner. Check with them directly before making the booking.
